Random observations

The annoying thing about the "Tea Party" is that that eminently civilized drink is now forever sullied by association.

Why are religious nuts always telling us to "repent"? I never even pented the first time.

Everybody looks stupid when they're chewing.

Liberals often have something worthwhile to say. Conservatives sometimes do. Cynics never do.

It's dull to read someone who just rants endlessly about the things he doesn't like. Write about what you do like, at least some of the time.

Yes, it's true that most people in the US are not racist any more; and no, that does not mean that racism has stopped being a real problem.

Whenever I focus on the Middle East on this blog, the number of page views goes up, even though the number of comments goes down. Most of the added page views come from foreign countries -- but not Middle Eastern ones. Curious.

The truest rejection of fads and fashions lies not in merely doing the opposite, but in disregarding them completely.

Not wanting to appear dull-witted even when alone within the privacy of my apartment, I puree all my food in the blender and daintily sip my meals through a straw.

I'm in trouble. My blog is pretty much an endless rant about the Religious Right.

I would say that Liberals and Conservatives often have something worthwhile to say as long as they are rational!

Funny. Has anyone noticed how many Tea Partiers are chewing gum while on camera? And even Republicans for that matter.

A nice list of things. I gotta think on some of these.

I like to un "re" words and see what's left...Mostly nonsense.

Did I tell you that your big rundown is the highlight of my Saturday? I find so many useful posts to go read. Thanks!

Infidel,

I just checked the stats on my blog and was surprised to find an huge increase in traffic over the last weekend, and it came from Crooks & Liars. I went to the site and discovered that you kindly sent the traffic to my blog. A belated thank you for that.

I should check the stats more often. :)

SK: Thanks -- you have a good blog and it was an obvious choice. No need to go overboard with the puréeing -- one doesn't need to lookk thoughtful all the time (I certainly don't).

Ahab: For that case I'll make an exception:-) -- and I think we can see what your postitive vision as an alternative to the fundies is.

PDH: One can find rational people on either side. Cynicism is a form of fachionable laziness, convenient to those who choose to sit inert on the sidelines feeling superior to those who are working to achieve.

I do tire of the amount of negativity on the internet sometimes.

TNLib: I have a feeling that, in their case, the roots of the bovine gestalt go deeper than just chewing. "Everybody looks stupid when they're carrying a sign with misspelled racial epithets" isn't quite as pithy, though.

Okjimm: Thanks. It's always a good time for a spot of tea, especially after reading one's pet rock a bed-time story.

SP: If your dog's tail is cut off, that means he is detailed and should be taken to a retail store. And no one should feel remorse if he never used Morse code before.

The link round-ups do seem to be a popular item -- there's plenty of worthwhile material out there that deserves to be more widely seen.

Jittery: I do read CC regularly even if I don't comment often. Salutations from Teas-side.
