Individualist, pro-technology, pro-democracy, anti-religion. I speak only for myself and not for any ideology, movement, or party. It has been my great good fortune to live my whole life free of "spirituality" of any kind. I believe that evidence and reason are the keys to understanding reality; that technology rather than ideology or politics has been the great liberator of humanity; and that in the long run, human intelligence is the most powerful force in the universe.

Nice jobby. I agree with a reader who thought this comment by you significant:
"All the good [religion] supposedly does is actually done by people, and I think most of that good would still be done by people -- likely the same people -- with or without religion."
SK: That's moving in the right direction -- and I don't believe for a moment that a lot of the other 69% haven't, in fact, had their doubts.
LP: Thanks. Of course, even if religion does occasionally inspire people to do good they wouldn't otherwise have done (and I see no reason to think it does), that would be trivial compared with the herd conformity, anti-intellectualism, gay-bashing, obstruction of medical research, etc., that comes along with it.
Thanks for participating!
