Thought for the day

If the religio-nutters think it was wrong for OKCupid and others to denounce Mozilla for choosing Brendan Eich as CEO, was it also wrong when they themselves denounced and boycotted JC Penney for using Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson?

Note: I realize the comparison may offend some, since DeGeneres never supported an effort to take away civil rights from a group of people, as Eich did -- the Christianists attacked her for being who she is, not for anything she did. Still, I think it's noteworthy that they are denouncing tactics, at least, which they themselves have used when they took offense at a high-profile corporate hiring decision.

Josh Marshall at TPM makes some valid points on this issue.

Yeah, but the boycott against Ellen DeGeneres was a miserable failure, which just goes to show how we are all living under the tyranny of the jackbooted thugs of militant homosexuality! Or something like that.
